At birth you were given certain skills and talents. They were present from the time of birth for you to use to grow and develop. There is very little that you can do to change them, but you can understand why some people do the things they do. By understanding these principles you can eliminate some problems.

Each one has some special talent that is given at birth that needs to be used for the good of all. The problem is that few people believe enough in themselves to really develop the talent. By not using it as it was meant to be, we lose it. Whatever talent or skill you have been given must be used or you will lose it. It’s a law.

There are also some principles that are given for each to use in building one’s life. They are there for everyone to use. If you use them, they will help you achieve the most from life. If you do not use them, they will work against you. They are there, you must use them. They are called the Principles of the Universe. There are ten principles that are very simple, but very powerful. Look at each carefully from your own perspective…

1. THE PRINCIPLE OF CHOICE
(There are no have to’s in life, only want to’s)

Despite what most of us think, we do not have to do anything in life. If you do something it is because you really want to do it. You may not think that you want to but if you didn’t choose to do it, you would do something else. You may make the choice because someone else wants you to, but you chose to do it, maybe just to please them. No matter “why” you do something, you choose to do it. It is your choice always. However, your attitude will affect the outcome of what you are doing.

If you think, “I have to do this,” then you will not do a good job. If however, you think “well, I chose to do this and it’s alright for me to do it,” then your attitude will produce a good outcome. Learn to control your thinking regarding what you do. The choice is yours. Life is a choice. Plain and simple.

2. THE PRINCIPLE OF ORGANIZATION
(Get started and do it now)

You made the choice. Now, it is up to you to get started and to make something happen. You start by getting organized and developing a plan of work. If you approach the “work” or activity with the right attitude, organize yourself with a specific plan, then you can accomplish it and do a super job with it. Learn to do the things that need to be done, when they need to be done, whether you want to or not. Organize your daily life, time, efforts, and skills. Organize yourself by setting priorities and do the most important things first. Organize your desk, your office, your materials, and everything else that you need to accomplish what you are doing.

Get organized, take action, and do it now.

3.  THE PRINCIPLE OF MEANING
(Develop a deep, burning desire)

The outcome of anything you do is directly in proportion to the amount of desire you begin with. You have decided what you want to do, you are organized, and now you must develop all of the desire you can. When you want to do something, and if you can see clearly what you are trying to do and what you want from it, all that remains is to get started. The burning desire will motivate you to persist until you accomplish the goal.

Picture in your mind what you want, write it down, think about it every morning and every night, and the desire that results will be all of the motivation you will ever need. Fan the fires of desire by reading your goals daily. The constant repetition will drive you to accomplish the task.

Focus the goal in your mind and hold it there. The power of visualization within you will enable you to achieve success. Place yourself in the picture along with what you want to accomplish, actually see yourself doing what you desire, unleash your creativity, and stand back.

No matter what you want, build a burning desire for its accomplishment with your thought processes, give it time, take appropriate action, and it will be yours.

4. THE PRINCIPLE OF MULTIPLICATION
(Take what you have and increase it)

You have the potential for greatness. You are capable of accomplishing anything in life that you can visualize yourself doing. This is not to say that you or anyone else can do everything you want to do. You are limited, but you have the potential of accomplishing your purpose in life. Your job is to choose to pursue life until you find your purpose. This purpose will be revealed to you through your mind. The things you can visualize yourself doing with your life reveal what’s possible. Right now you are probably using about 10% of your potential. You are stopping yourself by the thoughts you have.

Multiply your chances of success by using more of your potential. Start earlier, work smarter, and do more than is expected of you and you will increase your potential. You cannot expect to win a race with a car that gets a late start and is only running on two of eight cylinders. You can’t expect to win the race of life if you don’t use the power that is yours.

Multiply your successes by increasing your potential. The potential is there, it is your choice. Will you use it or lose it?

5. THE PRINCIPLE OF INTENSITY
(Put everything you have into everything you do)

You will become stronger and develop courage as you begin to achieve those things you set out to do. You will have the tendency in a lot of cases to do very little or just enough to get by. The problem with slacking off is the likelihood that you will get into the habit of doing very little. You will find that success only comes to those who put forth the necessary effort. If you can develop the habit of doing what you should do and then some, you will soon develop the habits that lead to success.

Put everything you have into everything you do and be willing to sign your name to it. Let people know that you are the one responsible for the outcome for everything you start. Put your best into life, and you will get the best back.

6. THE PRINCIPLE OF TRUST
(Trust is belief and belief is faith)

You cannot just memorize a list of principles and expect something good to happen. You must put your trust in them and believe with all your heart that they will work. Belief is trusting in the fact that what you want will happen. You must believe it before it happens. If you must see it first, then faith or trust is of no value.

People go through life wishing for something and saying if it happens or if I get the job, then I will be happy. Don’t say “if’, say “when”. Act as if it has already happened. Trust in yourself and in the potential that you have.

7. THE PRINCIPLE OF MEASUREMENT
(Evaluation shows progress, progress brings excitement)

If you will constantly evaluate your progress, you will soon become very excited about the possibility of achieving your goal. Seeing progress will help reinforce belief. The result will be persistence. If you can see that what you want is going to really happen, the excitement that is generated inside will keep you moving forward and nothing will stop you. Learn to evaluate daily and measure your progress.

8. THE PRINCIPLE OF EXCLUSION
(Get rid of what you don’t want to make room for what you do want)

For years you have been programming your mind. The thoughts that you have been putting into your mind are now used to solve problems, make decision, communicate, and do everything that you do. Most of your programming has been negative in nature.

To lead the life that you can really live you are going to have to get rid of all the negative that you didn’t want to make room for the positive thoughts that you do want. Be careful what you put into your mind because it will affect your behavior. You need to control what goes into your subconscious because it is limited to its ability to perform by the raw material that you give it. The use of positive affirmations will help you get rid of some of the negative and replace it with positive thoughts that you want.

9. THE PRINCIPLE OF NEED
(People do things because of wants and needs)

Here is the basis for all self motivation. Your motives are your reasons for doing everything. You are motivated by those things that you need or want or perceive to need or want. You are always trying to satisfy certain needs. Women will stand for hours in front of the mirror trying to look their best because of the need to be accepted or loved. Men will try to look handsome in order to fill the same need. All people have a need to belong to something which really counts.

10. THE PRINCIPLE OF TRUTH
(What you perceive to be true is more important to you than what is really true)

Perception is how you view your world. It is how you see yourself. The way you view yourself is the single most important factor in the quality of life. Your perception of yourself is so important. Good self-esteem can be developed only by controlling your thoughts.

These ten principles will work for you if you will use them properly. Try them and watch what happens. You must believe and expect them to work if you want results.

Now go make something happen,
